The beauty of marriage of in and out ... ties us together.... Kai mo Te hinengaro ... Food for thought ... Kia ora ... Boxer

What a pleasure to see Uncle Charlie sitting in his beautiful home, hearing his beautiful voice. In '93 I visited Miti Miti to bury my beloved friend Clayton Dunn, Charlie's nephew. Meeting their family was such comfort to me, I have never forgotten the love I was shown. I fell in love with the Dunns but eventually lost contact, and am yearning to catch up again. Clayton's mother Shirley has since died and I would so love to talk with someone close to him again, I still miss him badly and his photo has never been taken down. To all the beautiful men, women and children I met on the marae: I hope you are all well, you changed my life. Love from Lari in Oz xo

Aroha mai. Hiki had a daughter Neta as well who married Ike Welsh. This is your line. One of Hiki's sons, Moa Tahana also had a wife named Neta. It can get a bit confusing at times.
Kia ora.

Tena e Georgia. I know your grandmother well. What do you need to know? Neta, Hiki and Hohaia are brother and sisters. Children of Atama Paparangi. Hohaia married Roharima Tahana and for whakapapa reasons too lengthy to go into in this forum they had no children.

Hoihaia and Roharima whangai'd your Gt Grandmothers brothers. Uncle Syd and others. If you need more information on your Welsh side or the Tahana side, just let me know. Kia ora.

Tena koe. More Te Korohunga, the father of Wheeru, Te Ikanui, Kupe, Te Kakati and Uruhapainga, was killed during a battle in that general area. Most likely against Ngati Tumamao. More Te Korohunga had great mana and as was the custom of that time, his body was placed on a flat rock and he was cut up and eaten. There was not enough of him to go around the victorious warriors so his blood was licked from the rock. The rock is still there and can be seen near the Taikarawa stream. Kia ora.

Kia ora koutou, I am trying to find a link for Rebecca Elis Ututaonga who married Arthur James Iles the photographer. He took alot of photos in rotorua and they supposedly owned land out at Owhata. The land is marked by Iles Rd with the boundry line to beasley road. We have all the info on the grandfather but nothing on Rebecca. She is my daughters great great grandmother. I was wondering whether Wiremu Paki Ututoanga was her father or perhaps grandfather. It would be great to find a link somewhere as her name has drawn a blank. Its as if she dosen't exist. Can you please help?

Tena koe Ngioka me tona Kamira whanau, the tears flow freely reading about your whakapapa. Yes how hurting it was for your whanau over many years and yes this is your whakapapa and no one can take that away from you. Always be proud of who you are and what your whanau have achieved as years have gone by. The Gubbas / tauiwi will never understand the hurt and humiliation they have caused over many generations both in Australia and Aotearoa. Truly for one so young who have achieved and understand about a lot that has happened and as you grow to adulthood you will be someone to be proud of I'm sure. God bless & keep you safe, arohanui na Lorraine Houkamau, Ngati Kahu, Ngapuhi / Tainui

Tena koe te whanau Kamira

Kia ora Ngioka, thank you for sharing your whakapapa with us all ... how truly proud your whanau must be for you to convey your history to each and everyone of us.

What a wonderful world our mokopuna will be entering into, with tamariki who have the love and support from a very proactive whanau such as yourself.

I could never imagine what it would be like for my parents to try and hide me or my brother & sister away from the Gubba's/tauiwi.

Kia Ora Ngioka!!
Your whanau will live forever by your korero, your history will always have a place in my heart because your story is heartfelt and sincere. Your dad is 100% correct, whakapapa is and always will be your own ... nothing will change that.
Kia Kaha Ngioka. Maori never walk alone, we are always surrounded by our loved ones, as too, so do the native people of Australia.
